Tuesday 22 nd off to Bin Dan Hospital

Today Teresa, myself, Krystal and Jo were off to one of the largest Urology Hospitals in all of Vietnam.
Breakfast early. I am getting quite fond of lettuce, bacon, dragon fruit and yogurt for breaky. Plus coffee with a coconut macoroon. Teresa is more adventurous and lifts up all of the lids of the hot dishes to check out what is inside. Her favorite is the fried chicken bits and mine is the tiny sausages.
So picked by van at 0800 hrs and arrived shortly after in district 4. Morning tea in the Director of Nursings office. I tried a lychee jelly shot- not bad!
First stop was Emergency Department. Lots of trainee doctors in there with a lovely American/Japanese specialist who was over assisting them to diagnose in English.
We met the head Medical Urology specialist and chatted for about 30 min.
Next top was triage nurse desk, where every patient is seen within 10 minutes of arriving. We then moved off to see the Lithotripsy machine of which there was three. 100 Lithotripsies are performed a day.
The tour continued through the urology clinic, endoscopy suites, and up into operating suites, where I got to see a TURP.
Lunch again at 1100 hrs, and were taken to a lovely Vietnamese Resturant with the Director of Nursing, Head Urologist, NUM theatre, and NUM of ICU.
Prawn quiches and octopus omolette and wrapped this into lettuce leaves with spices. Seafood fried rice followed, and ice tea to drink.
Jo did her lecture on Importance of Documentation. Jackie flew in on the back of a motor bike for her lecture on Medication Safety and reporting.
Back to hotel. Went back into the streets. Had to try on the dresses we were getting made.
Went to Allez Boo for a light dinner, then back to hotel. Teresa and I planned to have a 10 minute snooze so we could work on the blog, but we passed out from sheer exhaustion and didn't wake until the following morning.
