Monday 21st January

Early morning breakfast at 0600 hrs. Back upstairs to our room and then ready for a day at Children's 1 Hospital. This is the largest children's hospital in HCMC. Caught a lift in the hospital ambulance at 0700 hrs and ventured off with Maggie (dietician) and Karen (paediatric educator). Both of these girls were from Sydney.
We arrived at the hospital and was greeted by the Director of Nursing and his assistant.
We toured through outpatients, then got dressed into theatre gear for a tour of the day surgery theatres. Upstairs to the main theatres, of which there was 13, all specializing in different specialities.
At 1100 it was time for all of us to be escorted to the Cafeteria for lunch. Green Melon soup first (quite tasteless) then morning glory vegies which were quite yummy! Fried chicken and sugar cane prawn rolls and bananas for dessert. We then had break until 1400 hrs, because that was rest time, so Teresa and myself had a snooze with our heads resting on the desk. 1400 hrs I had to Perform my lecture on the role of the scrub and circulating nurse. It went ok. We were delivered back to the hotel in the ambulance, then ventured back out to the streets of HCMC for more shopping!
